So, what is Scoodle?

Scoodle is a platform that connects students with tutors. Students ask questions on our platform, we send them to the most qualified tutors to answer. Students can then follow up by asking more questions and booking teaching sessions.

We believe everyone has something they want to learn and everyone has something they can teach. We want to bring both sides together so that everyone can achieve their best.

That sounds greet! But, can I get help with my homework?

Of course you can!

To get you started, first download the Scoodle app on your phone. Signup as a student and then ask your first question.

Which subjects can your tutors help me with?

We try not to limit our list of subjects, so chances are, whatever you want to learn our tutors teach it. Currently, we have a large range of subjects, with tutors teaching Maths and Sciences all the way to Piano and University Applications.

Download the app and make a search in the subject of your choice!

I've seen a tutor on Scoodle that gives great answers, how do I contact or book them?

It's great you've found a tutor 😄. First make sure you are logged in to the app. Go to your tutor's profile by clicking on their image. From your tutor's profile, you will see two buttons at the bottom, 'Message' and 'Book'. The rest is up to you!

If you would like to book a tutor, we would recommend you message them first, to find out what works for both of you.

How much do lessons cost with Scoodle tutors?

We let tutors make their own decisions about how much they charge. So, it really depends on your tutor. We would recommend speaking to a tutor in the app if you want to discuss the pricing further.

Scoodle doesn't charge fees for one-to-one lessons, so whatever you pay a tutor, they receive.

I've seen a green verified-tick next to some tutors. How do you verify tutors?

At Scoodle, the security and safety of our users is very important to us. We have a strict verification process to make sure our tutors meet our high security requirements.

To verify tutors we take ID documents, education history, and multiple contact details, among other things, to ensure safety and privacy.

Interesting... so do your tutors require a DBS check?

We don't require tutors to have a DBS check to signup, especially as many of our students are over the age of 16.

That being said, some of our tutors go above and beyond and have their DBS clearance. You can ask your tutor to find out more.

It's a little annoying having to book the same lesson with my tutor every week. Can the lesson repeat book by itself instead?

Definitely! We've introduced repeat bookings, so that you don't have to manually book the lesson every time. You can select this option, when you're making a booking under the "How Often?" option.

After a lesson is completed, the next lesson is automatically scheduled.

I have a question that isn't listed here, where can I ask it?

We'd be more than happy to answer it! In the Scoodle app we are always available to answer your questions. Just go to your account section and click "Chat with us".

I thought Scoodle was for tuition, what is this whole Q&A thing?

Sometimes students need help with questions outside of their lessons. Q&A is a way to help them and share the learnings thousands of other users.

By answering questions, even as a new user, you can increase your visibility in the Q&A feed and even boost your search rank. Students often make decisions about tutors based on the quality and helpfulness of their answers.

How much does it cost?

Scoodle doesn't charge fees for one-to-one lessons. So, whatever students pay, you receive. We let you decide how much you want to charge for your time.

So, you really don’t take a fee? How do you make money!?

The team at Scoodle used to do a lot of tutoring of our own. We know how annoying it can be when a big chunk of your money is taken after each lesson.

At Scoodle, our vision is to connect students with tutors and make sure both sides have an amazing experience. We don't feel like we're doing that if we're charging you massive fees.

We have some interesting ideas about how to make money, but we don't plan to ever charge fees for one-to-one tuition.

How do I find students on Scoodle?

On Scoodle, students find you!

After we speaking to many of our tutors who've booked sessions, here are some tried and tested ways to get students:

  • Complete your profile. Your profile is where students find out more about you. By completing your profile and including an image you will rank higher in the search results. Students can also find out more about you.
  • Have an interesting tagline. The first thing a student will see about you is your tagline. Make it something interesting that shows why you'll be a great tutor.
  • Answer questions. Students can tell a lot about you by the quality of your answers. If you come across as helpful and knowledgable, you're more likely to be messaged.
If I use Scoodle, do I have to commit a minimum number of hours?

We don't set minimum commitments for tutors. You can choose what you want to charge and set your own availability, as it fits your schedule.

Okay, I'm interested in using Scoodle... Do I need a DBS check?

We don't require tutors to have a DBS check to signup, especially as many of our students are over the age of 16.

That being said, some of our tutors have gone above and beyond and sorted out their DBS clearance.

Security is definitely important, but why do you want my ID documents? Are they safe?

Your ID document is held securely and will never be shared with anyone on Scoodle. No students or parents will ever have access to it.

We require ID documents for verification, to comply with money laundering regulations and to comply with the terms of our payments processor, Stripe. ID documents are needed to pay tutors.

That all makes sense. Where can I change my account details?

Here are the steps:

  1. Open the Scoodle app.
  2. Click on the "ME" tab at the bottom.
  3. Click on your profile picture, where it says "Edit profile".
  4. Choose from the different editing sections available.

I don't have much availability for tutoring, but I still want to help students. What do you recommend?

Of course you can! Students regularly ask questions in Q&A. You can click the "Unanswered" tab at the top, to see which questions don't have answers yet. Whilst you are not tutoring, you can build up your search rank by answering questions.

It would also help to set your updated availability in your profile settings.
