Ideally you should be aiming for at least 8 GCSEs including Maths, English and Science, at the very best grades (A/A*, now known as grade 8 or 9). You will then need to study at least Chemistry and Biology, plus another subject at ALevel. Medicine is extremely competitive and you should strive to get the best grades in order to become a surgeon.
you need 5 GCSEs (A-C), including mathematics, English and science.
