If you look at plants from the desert, Mediterranean and rainforest, you'll find their adaptation methods. I'll give you a few for each. Desert: Thick fleshy leaves to store water, extremely deep root systems to tap into underground water, production of thorns /spikes to ward off predators e.g. cacti Mediterranean: Leaves thick waxy to avoid dehydration e.g. Euphorbias, Hairy leaves to deflect the sun, changes the position of leaves to avoid exposing whole surfaces to the sun. Rainforest: Prop and stilt roots help give support and are characteristic of tropical palms growing in shallow, wet soils.
