Identical twins: One sperm fertilises one egg. The fertilised egg grows and divides to form a zygote (bundle of cells). The zygote splits into two smaller zygotes. These two smaller zygotes each share identical DNA and grow to form two separate humans with the same set of genetic material. Fraternal twins: Two separate eggs get fertilised by two separate sperm at the same time. This forms two zygotes with different sets of genetic material. That’s all!
