CAREER ADVICE
Asked by Lewis

What are the best paying career paths for STEM orientated people?

I really don't think careers should be totally defined in terms of salary. Picking a job that you are passionate about is critical to you enjoying work and fundamentally getting interviews. In answer to your questions, computer science for example software engineering, data science like fraud team and actuary attract a 'high paying salary. Hope this is useful in some way. If you've have any questions, you can drop me a message.

Math lover who dabbled in Business and love to read Quran.

Hi all. Like most Maths tutor here, I'm also a Math graduate, as a proof of academic excellence, I was offered an academic scholarship to take my Masters in a renowned University in Netherlands. However due to certain circumstances at the time, I had to turn it down. I accepted an offer to work in Oil and Gas industry instead. Long story short I moved to London four years ago and I have been tutoring particularly online for the past two years. My experience in tutoring was quite extensive prior to that, I used to tutor in my University years. I have almost 7 years of tutoring experience to date. I was also a Deputy Head, Maths and English teacher in an international school at one point, a long time ago. Like most tutors I have passion for what I am teaching, but unlike other tutor I strive to ignite that passion in you as well. Mathematics is often pictured as a daunting subject, more like a nightmare during school year that you have to soldier through until it all pass, but Maths is not at all like that. There is beauty in it, there's pattern that makes everything easy and sensible, you jusy need a little nudge to see those pattern. MATHS will also helps you see that pattern in life it, it will help you make sense of so many things, if that is not a good enough of a promise to you, Math is necessary for you to make it in life, so others will not take advantage of you. It is an exercise for your brain, that will leave it all muscular and attractive. So don't think twice and get in touch with me, together we'll help you make Maths your bff.

I’m a science PhD student at Cambridge committed to helping your academic goals

Hi I'm Tessa! I'm currently studying for my PhD at Cambridge in an interdisciplinary biosciences programme. I previously completed my undergrad at UCL in Natural Sciences, specialising in Physics and Molecular and Cell Biology for which I got a First. I know firsthand how difficult science subjects can be to master, but I am really passionate about teaching these subjects and sharing my interest. I hope to help you achieve your goals and enjoy learning as much as possible along the way. Having been through the applications process a few times myself, I am also keen to share how to successfully write a personal statement and prepare for interviews. I came from an international school with a very low Oxbridge acceptance rate, but there are definitely common factors that you can incorporate into your application to put your best foot forward at such competitive universities. I also studied Higher Level English Literature in the IB programme in school, and continue studying literature as a hobby to this day. I taught students aged 4-16 English as a second language at a private tutoring centre in Hong Kong. This allowed me to gain a lot of experience with a wide range of ages and has taught me how to change my methods and explanations to best suit the student in any situation. I have been a tutor in the UK for over three years, and have experience in both online tutoring and in person.
