COMPUTER SCIENCE
Asked by F

As a junior developer, I’m interested in cyber security. What’s the best way to get exposure to see if it’s something I’d like? What are the best topics to begin with?

If you like getting hands on, the best place to start is getting involved in a capture the flag (CTF) event. A lot of vendors and consultancies will run these, and you can find a list at ctftime.org I would also recommend downloading some of the tools cyber security professionals frequently use, and taking part in some ethical hacking training. You'll find plenty of guides for these online. Finally, there is lots of free education available to start you off. I would recommend SANS cyber aces and Open Security Training to understand the basics.
