COMPUTER SCIENCE

Video game producers often use stereotypical characters. Explain one reason why the producers use sterotypical characters?

It's the same reason you find stereotypical characters in movies & advertising. In my opinion, it happens for one of two reasons: 1. Unconscious stereotyping Sometimes, people don't know that they're stereotyping. This doesn't justify it, but it explains why it happens. When you've been conditioned for much of your life to see people of certain ethnicities act in a particular way, you develop unconscious biases. These need to be challenged because unconscious racism is still racism. 2. Conscious stereotyping This is a particularly bad when you combine this power & influence They consciously contribute to negative stereotypes. As above, these need to be challenged and there should be a lot of barriers to prevent people like this having positions of influence.
