How is Romeo presented as an outsider?

There are a couple of different approaches to the Romeo as 'outsider' question. Let's look at a just one: 'O sweet Juliet Thy beauty hath made me effeminate And in my temper softened valour’s steel' (III.i) Here Romeo conceits, or puns, on his 'effeminacy' in the face of Juliet's beauty; the pun here is that not only has she left him 'soft as a giggly girl', but also he has forgotten or casts aside the masculine protocols of chivalry which have driven the vengeance on between the Montagues and Capulets since Act I. TLDR: Hard street boy Romeo rejects the bro-code, without which he is an outsider to his family and friends, effeminate; he does this while outside Juliet's balcony. Prime example of Shakespearean 'conceits' used to underscore and foreshadow later complex character development.
