# How do I find the equation of a line on a graph using the equation y=mx+c?

The general form of a straight line equation is y = mx + c, where m is the gradient, c is the y-intercept and x and y are the coordinates of any given point. To determine if a point lies of a straight line graph, the x-coordinate would need to be substituted into the line equation. If the value of y obtained is the same as that of the y-coordinate then the point would lie on the straight line. However, if the y value obtained is different to that of the y-coordinate then we can conclude that the point does not lie on the line. I hope this answers your question.
