How do you solve simultaneous equations?

I love maths and physics, but I love helping people understand them even more!

There are three methods: by substitution, by elimination or graphically. The first two are different ways to do the same thing: eliminate one of the variables and end up with a single equation with one unknown. Then you can solve this equation and substitute the result in any of the two original ones to fine the second unknown. The third method consists of drawing the line represented by each equation. The point where the lines cross is the solution of the equations.
