How has the number and intensity of triopical storms changed over the last 50 years?
The intensity of tropical storms is increasing due to climate change (sea temperatures are increasing and for a tropical storm to form it needs to be at least 26 degrees) but the number has not necessarily increased. This may change in the next few years as we get more data. We will also see tropical storms form in different parts of the world as sea surface temperatures rise and the conditions for them to form occur outside of the current hazard zone.
