Use 2 algebraic equations

Total no of teachers 128

x male teachers and y female teachers so

x+y = 128 .... eq 1

Number of teachers who own cars = 128 - 47 = 81

(3/4) x +(3/5) y = 81

Divide by 3 gives

(1/4)x+(1/5)y = 27

Must by 4 gives

x + (4/5)y = 108 ..eq2

noting that eq1 is

x+y = 128 ..eq1

Subtracting eq 2from eq1

(1/5)y = 20

Therefore y = 100

There are 100 female teachers
