To put if briefly, decadal oscillations are the recurring patterns and fluctuations of temperatures of ocean surfaces over the Pacific Ocean. It will either be in a ‘negative phases’ and ‘positive phases’ and it will fluctuate every 20 to 30 years. A negative phase is associated with oceanic cooling, mixing of deep waters and surface waters. A warmer phases seems to increase global warming, increasing global and oceanic temperatures. If an El Niño or La Niña event coincides, the effects can be amplified.
