Asked by Max

Why are fossils formed in sedimentary rocks?

Sedimentary rocks are formed when layers of sand and mud are built up and compressed. The skeletons of tiny sea creatures may build up on the sea bed where these rocks are forming and are therefore compressed into the rocks creating fossils.
