Why do you think Lincoln urged generous terms for a Confederate surrender?
Hi Tim,
Hope you're doing well.
The reason why Lincoln urged generous terms for a Confederate surrender was to further unite the country even after the war. The generous terms seem fair for the Confederacy, therefore it would help iron out any differences between the Confederate and the Union states.
