What is the best university for mathematics?

Mary Rodriguez

The London School of Economics is really strong for Maths, so it is worth having a look at entry requirements there. Of course, you can always look at the university league tables to get an 'official view'. One of the problems with the league tables though is that really good universities can be ranked quite low. It's important not to look at the ranking for the subject, but the overall university ranking. For example, in The Guardian's university ranking, LSE is ranked 49th for Maths. That doesn't mean your future prospects are better if you choose the higher ranking universities, because LSE has such a strong international reputation.
