# What is 4x+2=2x+14?

First: get all the x terms to one side and the numbers to the other (remember if you swap sides you change the sign!) 4x-2x = 14-2 The 2x was positive on the right hand side and we have swapped the side so it now is negative. Likewise the 2 was positive and we swapped the side so now itโ€™s negative. Next - do the sums on both sides: 2x = 12 You have 2x but only want x so we divide by 2: x = 12/2 x = 6 Now we have an answer for x we can check the original equation to see if we are right! 4(6) + 2 = 2(6) + 14 24 + 2 = 12 + 12 26 = 26 !!! Soo we know we are correct x = 6

Simply bring x to RHS and the numbers to LHS so you get 4x-2x = 14 - 2 2x = 12 Divide both sides by 2 x = 2

Concept 1: To solve 'x', put all 'x' on one side of equal sign (usually on left) and numbers on the other side of equal sign. Concept 2: To balance the equation, the value on the left must be the same with the value on the right of equal sign. Step 1: Subtract 2 from both side (as shown in bracket) 4x + 2 = 2x + 14 4x + 2 (- 2) = 2x + 14 (- 2) 4x = 2x + 12 Step 2: Subtract 2x from both side (as shown in bracket) 4x ( - 2x) = 2x ( - 2x) + 12 2x = 12 x = 12 รท 2 x = 6 #MathsFunPlaynLearn
