What is the answer to this question: in a school, tutor groups have a maximum of 24 students. There are 185 students in year 7. What is the smallest possible number of year 7 tutor groups? Show your working out?

185/24=7.7, which we can interpret as “7 tutor groups and a bit extra” for a maximum of 24 students. Therefore, we will need 8 full tutor groups perhaps with less than 24 students each to facilitate all pupils!
