Here are several ways you can learn to play both hands independently. 1. Practise contrary motion scales (left hand then right hand separately; break down the scale into small sections when trying both hands together). 2. Try hand independence exercises (legato in right hand, and staccato in left hand, then switch. Again, practise both separately, then very slowly integrate one hand in whilst the other plays). 3. Look out for similarities in finger patterns between the left and right hand. 4. Try out books based on hand independence exercises. E.G. The Virtuoso Pianist by Hanon. Or, for beginners, try books like ‘A Dozen A Day.’ Hope this helps :)
