What are the causes of conflict in Syria?
Hi Liam, this requires a very in-depth response so I am going to list the key things you need to look at instead. Please do private message me if you require anything else. Thanks, Jess 1. Political repression-the president ended things like media freedom. 2. Uneven economy-increased privatisation meant that the wealthy got wealthier. This increased cost of living for everybody, fuelling inequality further. 3. A huge population surge and drought-you can imagine that this would cause problems, particularly at a time when there are few jobs and not enough food. 4. Corruption-some citizens turned to smuggling and other crimes to make money for their families. 5. Lots of uprisings e.g ‘Arab Spring’ as the citizens tried to take down the leaders.
