PSYCHOLOGY
Asked by Jann

Hey, how could I structure my 12 mark questions in my paper to assure that I’ve got everything I need for the examiner to give me full marks? I do OCR Psychology by the way?

This depends on the question itself, because the nature and content of the answer usually changes depending on whether you are answering questions around the the core studies or research methods. I'll try not to write too much, as I think I can help more if you have a particular example question as well (After reading this answer, maybe you could ask another question with an example question and a brief essay plan). Assuming a Core Studies question (where you are asked to assess a particular study): - Have a clear introduction outlining your question - Have 2 well explained strengths - Have 2 well explained weaknesses - Use relevant data either from the question or from memory (try and remember references for these) - Outline your findings in your conclusion, whilst briefly expressing your opinion (supported by evidence). Generally, the quality of your points is worth a lot more than quantity. So, 2 strengths and 2 weaknesses that are well explained will be a lot more useful than a list of briefly explained points. I'd also recommend writing up answers and getting your teachers to mark them from now. Usually, questions are repetitive and it'll be good to build an answer bank. That's what I did during my a-levels and it was really useful.
