Explain two contrasting beliefs in contemporary British society about the use of artificial contraception within marriage. Refer to the main religious tradition of Great Britain and one or more other religious traditions. I would like an answer soon?
The main two to compare would be Church of England Christianity and Roman Catholic Christianity. CofE allows birth control but RC does not. This includes condoms, oral contraceptives, coils, implants, etc etc. CofE Christianity is fairly ‘tame’ compared to other branches. A good comparison would be the quiver full Christians who believe they need to have as many children as possible to populate the earth with god’s followers.
On the whole, western religions tend to see procreation as being the point of marriage. Unfortunately I don’t know enough about contraception within eastern religions, although my understanding is that most faiths prefer abstinence or pregnancy.
