For twelve marks, you should write a short introductory paragraph, three points for the statement and three against, as well as a conclusion showing your personal point of view. Add evidence to each of your points and evaluate the strength of each point. One argument against the statement is: Some people, such as Christians, believe that God is still loving, even if his creation suffers. This is because, suffering may be a result of a misuse of free will. God has instructed Christians on how to use their free will, and if they use it to sin, then they will suffer. This is a weak argument to oppose the statement, as it does not explain why some people who may sin, still lead a life with minimal suffering, in contrast to pious people who suffer constantly. Consider Epicurus’ argument, and reasons why there is suffering in spite of a loving God, for example: the devil, punishment, a test from God, original sin, preparation for heaven, as points to use for and against.
