One Christian teaching about the cause of sin can be taken from the Original Sin in The Book of Genesis. This describes when Adam and Eve disobeyed Gods and ate the forbidden fruit and were thus punished by being separated from God, sent out of Heaven and down to Earth. Now through the lineage starting from Adam and Eve it is thought that we all inherit their “original sin” and sin ourselves. Since Adam and Eve were created by God, it could be believed that God causes sin since it was God that gave them the free will to make choices on how to act when faced with temptations. Another cause of sin could be Satan. Some Christians believe it was Satan that convinced Adam and Eve to eat the forbidden fruits, causing them to be cast down to Earth. Satan even targeted Jesus, in Luke 4:1-13, where Jesus is tempted by hunger and promises of power. Similarly, Satan tempts us in our daily lives and when people give in to the temptation they fall into sin.
