Hi there, Iโ€™m a kiwi guy living in Wandsworth, London. Iโ€™m great with kids of all ages, a top quality teacher and listener, and a very fast learner myself. My strengths are in numbers, finance, computers, English & soft skills, but Iโ€™m open to yours and your childrenโ€™s needs! Iโ€™m also bachelor qualified accountant with over 8 years experience in roles in both New Zealand and London. My teaching style is very attentive. I like to spend time ensuring the right understanding has been made. I really enjoy the eureka moments and will readily try new or different techniques if I can see if a particular style of teaching isnโ€™t working. Iโ€™ve had experience teaching through study groups and in a working environment. I have a passion for teaching, for nurturing success and for helping people overcome obstacles. Iโ€™d very much like to become a teacher in future too. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Looking forward to helping out however I can! Corben Lawrie

I qualified as a teacher from University of London in 1984. Since then I have taught in a wide variety of institutions...secondary schools, special schools, pupil referral units and residential schools. I have a PhD in biochemistry so I have to admit that biology is my first love and chemistry / physics come a close joint second. However, I have had many successes guiding students through their struggles with GCSE maths. I have taught across all the main exam boards...OCR, AQA, Edexcel, WJEC. My approach tends to be playful, direct and geared towards getting you through your exams. I like to coach students to develop greater self-sufficiency in their approach to studying. I tend to start where the student is and shape my approach to suit their needs rather than offering a single style of delivery. In other words, I adapt to you, rather than you having to adapt to me. I also have a broad background in stress management, NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming) and cognitive behavioural therapy so I have a whole arsenal of tips and tricks to manage any pre-exam jitters and help improve general confidence and self-esteem. At the very least, get in touch and let's see how I can help you.

I am a Criminology and Psychology graduate with a 2:1 degree. I have an A in GCSE English Literature, a B in GCSE English Language and a C in A Level English Literature. I would like to become a teacher at some point in the future, which is one of my reasons for tutoring. I have always had a passion for English and really enjoy reading and writing, especially creative writing. In terms of my teaching style, I like to find out what each student is struggling with and tailor their tuition to their needs. It makes no sense to reteach them things they already know. I also ensure that I give the student the confidence they need to do well. I feel that helping others achieve is the best thing anyone can do. I want to help people do well and do great things. I want to promote positivity because negativity does not help anyone. My motto is "Keep positive and be confident. This is how you will succeed". Confidence is just as important as positivity, because you need to feel like you are capable of doing well. I constantly offer encouragement for all of my students. Even when they are really struggling. You are doing this for yourself, not me, not your parents, not your teachers.

Hi! My name is Sohini, a friendly and helpful tutor currently studying Maths at the LSE because of how much I love the subject and teaching it, so I would say that I major in Maths. Nevertheless, I have always enjoyed learning and teaching languages to others, in particular Spanish, French and Bengali. To quickly describe myself, I am 21-years old and have worked as a tutor for approximately 5 years now. From my experiences, I have picked up new and creative ways to make education as enjoyable and enlightening as possible. For a short time, I did also work as a fundraiser for multiple charities which enhanced my optimism and made me more confident with my abilities. In short, I don't give up. I consistently try to improve the development of my students so that they are satisfied with their quality of education and level of confidence. I have experience working at homes, schools and tutoring centres, and I have mostly worked with those aged between 5 and 17, both while employed and while volunteering. However, I have never limited myself to a particular age when it comes to taking students - learning is for all ages! Finally, I am flexible, both in time and lesson rate, and quick to respond to messages for lessons so feel free to message me, even if you don't see the time slot you want. Last updated: 24/07/18

I am currently studying Optometry at the University of Bradford and undertook Biology, Chemistry and Maths at A-level. The exams for these subjects which I sat were registered in the new 2017 specification. In regards to A-level, i believe I have an extensive degree of knowledge on the new content, exam papers and specification in order to teach it. This was slowly brung into light as i spent many hours of my day dedicating revision and practise towards the content. Throughout my time during A-level, i experimented with new methods and techniques of learning which brung me closer and closer to my set goal. This is precisely what I want to share with the new upcoming students now that A-levels are becoming tougher and more demanding as years go by. My approach is to pinpoint weaknesses displayed by the student and use past exam questions to expand and increase the pupils experience in applying the knowledge grasped. I would be more than happy to teach the pupil from the start if needed in order for them to obtain a new angle of understanding of the content. As a part of starting tuition for the first time, I will be giving away free 1hr lessons per week to teach A-level Biology and Chemistry until the 19th of January 2020. This is purely to gain some experience for myself. The rates after the 19th will be ยฃ20 per hr. I am currently living at home with my parents but have a large area which I can dedicate for tuition. I will only, currently, be tutoring male pupils due to strict house rules. Sorry girls๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

Through my passion for maths and science, I am fortunate enough to both hold an offer to study Physical Natural Sciences at Cambridge next year and win the LIYSF Award at the national Big Bang Competition this year. But, more importantly, I am eager to share this passion with other students to help them achieve their targets. I am young, but that doesnโ€™t mean I am inexperienced, as I have taught at a tuition centre in Camden, six hours a week for two years, tutoring groups of students ranging from ages 9 to 18. In fact, my age can often improve my teaching as I have a better idea of the difficulties students face when studying and can offer first-hand advice as a result. During the summer, I am looking to teach Maths, Chemistry and Physics one-to-one or in groups. Summer tuition may be particularly useful for students that have GCSE or A Level exams next year, but I am also happy to help students of any age.

I chose my GCSE options in year 8 and started them in year 9. It was then I felt like I had to decide what career I want to go in. I knew I enjoyed teaching as I've done a lot mentoring; I also knew that Religious Studies was one of my most favourite subjects. Really, I loved (still do) cooking the most so a career in catering was also something I wanted but then I decided that from my experience it's not the most stable career and I am an academic. My parents suggested I go into law so I focussed on that. I got 18 A* - Cs for GCSE. I got a scholarship into Oxford for a pre-degree law course which I did along side my A-levels. For AS I did German, Philosophy and Ethics, History and English language and literature. The latter 2 subjects I did not do enjoy as much so I dropped them in A2 and picked up a full A-level in IT. I got a reduced offer to do law at Oxford but I decided I didn't want to do that anymore nor be in that environment again. I chose to do philosophy and R.S. instead which allowed me to dabble with other topics such as psychology, sociology, and government and politics. I have worked at schools as pupil assistant, mentor and teacher. I am now a manager at a tuition centre. (And I've been tutoring for over 8 years now). Sorry for the essay!
