The Elizabethan was quite stable for several reasons.

Its return to Protestantism following Catholic Queen Mary's rule meant an end to persecution of protestants and a greater religious stability.

The defeat of the Spanish Armada was a huge morale booster, bringing about enormous national pride and unifying Brits. On top of this, the arts flourished among high members of society. Both these factors meant that Brits were proud of their nation and considered themselves enlightened.

Finally, a recovery from the economic hardships brought about by the loss of certain trade (like wine, with France) meant that the economy was comparably better than in Queen Mary's England.

It must be noted that the poor were excluded from much of this cultural and intellectual development, and their lives were still subject to factors like the harvests and the climate. That being said, the Protestants enjoyed freely practicing their faith, which was very important to them.
