Clichés are over used phrases which consequently lose their impact - I don’t think it is a cliché. When you say already taken, do you mean is it in a popular story? Not that I’ve heard of. Good luck writing the story Junayd.

Writing a story and was thinking of using the name Kingbreaker but wanted to know if it was already taken or cliché?

Hi Fatma. It’s certainly possible to successfully change courses. Your personal statement should include:

- your motivations to begin this new course.

-what you can bring to your chosen university, if it’s a new one. If it’s a new course at the same university I would include why you wish to remain there. 

-it’s worth including what you have learnt this year, and that you’re dedicated and committed enough to complete your new course.

Applying for University

I want to apply to different uni again this year for completely different course, as 1st year uni student. My A level grades are not enough so I need to use this years results. Also I need to write a  PS but have no clue what to include, how to start

Oliver is taken in by Mr Sowerberry who is a likeable man. Having moved out of the workhouse, this was sure to be a relief for Oliver. 

However, Mrs Sowerberry and her children treat Oliver harshly. Noah is jealous of Oliver and insults him, this in turn leads Oliver to become involved in an altercation. Consequently, Mr Sowerberry beats Oliver, who then runs away. 

So what initially was a welcome escape for Oliver from the cruel environment of the workhouse, leads to Oliver become embroiled in an environment where he is mistreated once again. Consequently Oliver is left vulnerable on the streets of London.

Know your texts - create a plot summary. 

Be familiar with themes - track these and include quotes. 

Ensure you are comfortable with terminology. 

Have a strategy for comparative answers - depends on which exam board you’re with, but if required, ensure you can find similarities and differences (particularly for poetry). 

Practice writing your paragraphs - keep an eye on timings. Most students don’t write quick enough! 

Having a qualified English teacher to support you can also have a huge impact. Feedback is key when it comes to improving the quality of your writing.
