Why did night battles take place during ww1?
If you attack during the night you are less visible, the enemy is weary, and not being able to see clearly has psychological effects on enemy soldiers and civilians. The feeling of being attacked at night while you should be sleeping and are vulnerable keeps soldiers and civilians up at night and disrupts their normal sleeping patterns - making them less productive and attentive

Why did Hitler go to prison?
His leading role in the Beer Hall Putsch (Munich Putsch 8-9 Nov 1923) had him charged with treason. He was found guilty and sentenced to 5 years in prison, where he wrote Mein Kampf. He was released after serving 9 months of his sentence.

What is the best example of a primary source document useful in the study of history?
It does depend on the type of work you are doing and the sources available. Why did Hitler believe that Jews and other "subhumans" had to be exterminated?
Hitler believed the aryan race was superior to all others regarding intellect and physical ability. Any other racial mix was seen as contaminating the purity of the race and therefore had to be exterminated.
