What did the State of Georgia try to do to the Cherokee tribe?

The cherokee tribe were forcibly removed from their lands in Georgia by the American state and spearheaded by president Andrew Jackson. The Cherokee tribe were walked to Oklahoma against their will. This is better known as the trial of tears.
