Rounding to the Nearest 10

(^ means “to the power of”)

For example:

x^2 + 6x - 10

We halve the number before the x and put it into a bracket with the x and square the bracket as below.

(x + 3)^2 

We don’t want the 3^2 so we subtract 9 (3^2 is 9).
 
(x + 3)^2 - 9

Finally keep the number from the original equation the same. 

So,

(x + 3)^2 - 9 - 10

Final answer = (x+3)^2 - 19

It’s gets a little harder if you have a number in front of your x squared term, but I hope this helps!

We first multiply our number “x” by 2 and then subtract 9 from whatever this answer is.

Write the following using algebraic notation using the letter x for any unknown numbers: I think of a number,multiply it by two, then subtract nine.

Adjacent means “next to”, so in a shape an adjacent sides would be two sides that are next to each other.

A parallelogram is a 4 sided shape with 2 pairs of parallel lines and two pairs of equal angles. Sort of like a squashed rectangle!

All you need to do is multiply by 100! A quick way to do this is move your decimal point two places to the right. 

How do you change a decimal into a percentage?

Factors are numbers you can multiply together to get another number.
For example:
The factors of 16 are:
1 x 16
2 x 8
4 x 4

So 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16 

What are factors

Sin (a) = opposite/hypotenuse 

SOH CAH TOA can help you to remember this, give it a google! 

However if you mean the sine rule, it’s: 

a/sin(A) = b/sin(B) = c/sin(C)

I think you maybe missing something from your question? 2x - 3....? Since we are only looking for one integer as the answer perhaps it was 2x - 3 < 7

The first inequality gives us x > 3 after we subtract the 5 from both sides. 

The second part we would add 3 to both sides to get 2x < 10 and then divide by 2 to get x < 5.

If x > 3 and x< 5, your answer is 4.
