Make a the subject of w=3(2a+b)-4?

1. Just imagine what operation has been done last to ‘a’ and that is the operation you should undo first, for example: w = 3(2a+b)-4 Here, the -4 is the last thing that happens to ‘a’ so we do the opposite by ADDING 4 to the other side to get rid of it: 2. w+4 = 3(2a+b) : Then just repeat this process until you get ‘a’ by itself. 3. w+4 = 6a+3b (expand the bracket) 4. w+4-3b = 6a 5. w+4-3b/6... more

In terms of structure and bonding, what are the similarities and differences of copper and graphite?

Copper is a better conductor than graphite for electricity due to its lattice structure with free delocalised electrons that can carry the energy across the structure, whilst graphite is still able to conduct electricity, it is not as strong of a conductor as copper. Although copper has a high melting and boiling point, the bonds in copper take less energy to break. Graphite has a very high melt... more

Find, to 1 decimal place, the values of θ in the interval 0 ⩽ θ ⩽ 180° for which 4root3 sin (3theta + 20degrees) = 4 cos (3theta+ 20degrees)?

Make 3thetha + 20 = y So you’ll have: 4root3 siny = 4 cos y Then divide both sides by cos y So 4 root 3siny/cos y = 4cosy/cosy Siny/cosy = tan y and cosy/cosy = 1 Therefore: 4root 3 tan y = 4 Divide both sides by 4 So: root3 tan y = 1 So tan y = 1/root3 Change your intervals: 0<theta<180 => 0<3theta<540 => 0<3theta +20<560 y= 30,210,390,570 Let y = 3 theta+20 Theta = (y-20)/3 So plu... more
