Having helped students each year complete their UCAS applications through both state & independent sectors, I have a wealth of experience of the process including writing a personal statement that will help you stand out from the crowd. My students have progressed to Oxbridge and their university retention rate is good as part of our tutoring experience is fostering a habit of independent learning.
Full time Maths and Economics teacher for the last 8 years.
Since graduating from Oxford University in 2011 with a degree in Economics and Management, I have worked full time as a private tutor, both in the UK and internationally. My degree required a high level of maths. I took A-Levels in Maths, Economics, Geography and Critical Thinking, and received an A in all of these. I attended Kendrick Grammar School from the age of 11 to 18. This involved an entrance exam with both non-verbal and verbal reasoning papers. I have a good understanding of what is needed to achieve the top marks in maths, economics and business related subjects as well as what is needed to be successful in entrance exams. I have also completed a post graduate degree in Global Development Challenges (University of Edinburgh, with distinction). I have now been working as a tutor for four years and love my job. I enjoy building up a relationship with the families and students I work with and seeing a transformation in their confidence and their skills. Families I work with often joke that I have the patience of a saint! I also work in a secondary school for 2 days a week teaching A-Level Economics and Maths. Since graduating, I have completed thousands of hours of tutoring in all my subjects. My students really enjoy my lessons and have been very successful. All of my 11+ students were successful this year, including Blue Coat, Kendrick, Reading Boys and The Abbey. All of my economics and maths students see a huge improvement, with the majority going on to achieve top grades (A/A*). My students often tell me that I have a way of explaining complicated things that 'just seems to make sense'. I have spent 7 months homeschooling three children in the Bahamas and have worked with children of all ages in a wide range of roles. For 5 years I worked at my local dry ski slope as a ski instructor. This involved teaching anyone over the age of 4, and making lessons fun and relevant for them. I have learned to adapt my teaching style and to think of creative and innovative ways to teach new things. I also work with young people with special needs, which requires a great deal of patience and imagination. I have also spent a great deal of time working with children with a variety of special needs including dyslexia and ADHD. I have had great success, particularly those with dyslexia. I aim to find imaginative and enjoyable ways to help the child and to build their self confidence in the subject.
Dedicated tutor and who is ready to teach!
Biography I am a self-made person who started working after graduating high school. I do have an intention to complete my academic route, but this is for the future. I have worked in various spheres, customer services, hospitality, but all the time I would come back to tutoring since this is the job which I love and which makes me feel fulfilled. I self-study in my spare time, since along with my students, I am eager to learn. I have recently took up a Graphic Design course, as well as programming. I do Art and some writing as my hobbies. I am an avid animal lover, which is quite obvious since I have 7 cats. Teaching Experience I started tutoring at a quite young age since I have always been ahead of my class. I took particular joy in helping people and spreading my knowledge for the best of others. I started tutoring professionally in 2017 and after a brief pause I resumed my teaching responsibilities, as well as education consulting. I receive only top reviews from my clients for my successful work with both children and adults and helping them acquire top marks in their desired subjects. I pay special attention to the individual needs of each of my tutees and their goals. Based on that I create a personalised studying programme rich in diverse activities and media materials. I teach Maths for GCSE, A-level, IB and SAT, as well as Primary and Secondary school; English as a second language; Russian as a foreign language, Russian GCSE, A level and IB. I come across different clients, some are more demanding while others are more independent in their studies, some are 5 and others are 40+ - all of them say that I change their attitude towards the subjects I am teaching, they themselves notice the progress of our collaboration, as well as their school teachers, colleagues, family. I support my students in exploring the subject beyond the curriculum level, in reaching the depth of their understanding of the material rather than acquiring the superficial facts. I encourage my tutees to think out of the box and to aim further than their original goals. With education consulting, I provide my clients with full-time support in their application process, which involves setting up the application strategy, preparing the documents, filling in all the necessary forms, getting in touch with their selected education establishments. All of my clients were successful in their applications and referred me to their friends and family.
