I have been a journalist and senior editor for the News Department at Zhejiang University in China for 2 years, reporting news and interviewing people, updating university news on the University official website and the WeChat official account platform. As a trans-interpreter intern at the Global Times News Press for 6 months, I highly valued audiences’ feedback and improved my translation to a better-presented version to maximumly improve information delivery and audiences’ reading experience. In January 2017, I successfully joined BBC Over To You Programme at BBC Radio Manchester through competitive interviews. Having received three professional training sessions delivered by BBC senior journalists, I started to prepare my programme “Chinese in Manchester”, regularly meeting senior BBC staff to discuss it. Working in a reporting team, I went to Chinatown to interview Chinese people from all walks of life about their experience in Manchester and successfully finished my report. Passionate and experienced multilingual tutor!
I have 4 years’ experience as a private tutor and now a full-time tutor, as I have been for just over 6 months. I have experience teaching a range of students in terms of age (from 5 to over 60) and level. I have taught English as a Foreign Language, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, German and Latin as well as English and Maths (up to 13+) to a total of more than 50 students (including some groups). Many of these students have been learning for exams, such as GCSEs and A-Levels, while some have been casual learners. While flexibility is essential and I try to tailor my approach to each student, I base my tutoring on transmitting my passion and expertise in learning to the student. As a speaker of many languages, I have considerable experience of the language learning process and know-how of language learning techniques. I use this to predict common pitfalls and difficulties for students, and to explain these by breaking them down in simple terms. In this way, the student’s confidence increases and they feel able to reach their targets. While I have high standards, I also believe students will naturally want to learn more if they have fun. I often use cultural materials such as books, films or songs in my lessons so that the student sees the advantages of language learning and so starts to learn proactively and thus improve faster.
Keep calm and get a good tutor. How bout Me? ;)
Hi !! 😁😁 Call me Jo! I am currently an engineering undergraduate at Imperial College London and am passionate to share my love for STEM. Having achieved 4A* and 1A at A level last year, I know exactly what is needed to succeed in the exams. Coming from a franco-Chinese family I also benefit from being trilingual. This took hard work but more importantly ‘smart’ work too and I constantly review my learning methods to ensure they are as efficient in the language learning process as possible. I am currently using it to learn German... so you could join me on the language learning journey! Or go for the more traditional and serious subjects such as math and the sciences. I have had a good deal of teaching experience both online and offline and am keen to engage on Scoodle too! So if you think you’d be interested, don’t hesitate to message me and we can figure it out from there 👌

Hello! My name is Alyssa Miller and I am a first year Law student at the University of Warwick. I am half Chinese and half English; consequently, I am fluent in both English and Chinese. I have had a lot of experience in tutoring, from being a classroom helper for an entire GCSE Mandarin class, to being a personal tutor in English Literature for a struggling year 11 boy, to teaching basic Mandarin to a class full of Burmese refugee children. Enthusiastic and friendly tutor in Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Chinese, and 11+ / ISEB exams.
Hi there! My name is Theo and I am a Year 13 student studying Biology, Chemistry, Maths, and Chinese (4 A*s, 11 GCSE Grade 9s), looking to pursue medicine at university. I am particularly fascinated by human biology and biochemistry, but enjoy learning about other subjects that interest me, such as politics and Chinese history and culture. I thoroughly enjoy teaching, and would love to take the opportunity to share my academic knowledge and other insights as a mentor. For the last year I have worked for two hours a week as a voluntary tutor, where I have developed the skills and understanding required to be a successful tutor. I also find it incredibly exciting and rewarding to see students develop and get to grips with new topics, as well as be enthusiastic about topics I'm also keen on! I enjoy a student-led approach to tutoring, where the goals and targets of the student are our primary focus, such as an upcoming exam. What I quite like to do is, if there is a particular topic that the student would like to focus on, then we can go through the theory of it together, but if not, it can be really beneficial to go through past paper questions together and then pause and reflect on any topics that are particularly challenging.
