History MA Graduate tutoring German and History
Hi! I’m a 23 year old MA Graduate from UCL who is looking forward to tutoring you in German or History at all levels! I have been in academia for a number of years now and have focused much of my energies into studying. At the same time I have refined the ways in which I tackle exams and assessments. I am looking forward to sharing this with you and helping you achieve your goals. I went to school in Scotland and studied in England, so I am able to assist tutoring history and exam technique at all levels: -National 5 History -Higher History -Advanced Higher History -Bachelor of Art -Master's At whatever level I look forward to strengthening your subject comprehension, boost confidence, and build important learning skills and overcoming any learning obstacles you are having together! :) I prefer to centre my teaching methods around what you as the student are requiring. My time during school and university has required me to test out a number of different tuition methods. I understand that every person learns differently. I look forward to helping you find what works for you. Alternatively if you already have a particular method of learning you prefer I am happy to follow it. Moreover, as I myself, have dyslexia, I have a greater understanding of the struggles this can bring to some students therefore I am also happy to support students who are requiring this support.

Experienced tutor and undergraduate at university of Leipzig
Hi! My name is Jerome and nearly 40 years ago, I was born in a small town in East Germany. I have been living in London for three years now and after working for companies like Mercedes-Benz and Google Maps, I now want to spend some time to help learners of the German language to practice their skills and keep them from going mad at our articles and never ending nouns. Not to mention our specialty ä; ö and ü. At university I took 3 semester of German as a foreign language which gave me some basics how to explain the pitfalls of this language. Later I taught English in Thailand and Indonesia. If you want to go deep into grammar or just chat away some time over coffee, choose me as your tutor and I’ll give my best for you to study and have some fun at the same time. Hope to see you soon and bis bald
Passionate and experienced multilingual tutor!
I have 4 years’ experience as a private tutor and now a full-time tutor, as I have been for just over 6 months. I have experience teaching a range of students in terms of age (from 5 to over 60) and level. I have taught English as a Foreign Language, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, German and Latin as well as English and Maths (up to 13+) to a total of more than 50 students (including some groups). Many of these students have been learning for exams, such as GCSEs and A-Levels, while some have been casual learners. While flexibility is essential and I try to tailor my approach to each student, I base my tutoring on transmitting my passion and expertise in learning to the student. As a speaker of many languages, I have considerable experience of the language learning process and know-how of language learning techniques. I use this to predict common pitfalls and difficulties for students, and to explain these by breaking them down in simple terms. In this way, the student’s confidence increases and they feel able to reach their targets. While I have high standards, I also believe students will naturally want to learn more if they have fun. I often use cultural materials such as books, films or songs in my lessons so that the student sees the advantages of language learning and so starts to learn proactively and thus improve faster.

A language enthusiast who likes to make learning fun and productive!
Hey there! My name is Joshua and I'm a final year student at the University of Southampton. I study Modern Languages, them being French, German and Chinese. I've always had a passion for languages and I aspire to do something with them and use them in a job. I hope to to do a European Masters in Translation and Interpretation to continue to improve my proficiency in the languages I speak. I love learning languages because you are not only learning a language; you are also introduced into a new and exciting culture, where you can discover about the food, history, music, traditions, etc. of a country. The cultural competency you gain is great and is very valued with employers, since it shows you can be flexible and have great communication skills. I would love to help you with your language learning and show how fun and rewarding language learning can be! Whilst grammar can be tedious sometimes, I like to make it more enjoyable, since you learn things much better when you like what you are doing. For languages, there are many ways in which you can improve, and I would make sure that all the main skills are covered in order to improve - these being listening, reading, writing and speaking skills. These skills would not be improved just through the use of a textbook - videos, role plays, listening exercises, flashcards, quizzes, etc. would all be used to bring variety to the learning. Every lesson will be different, since I feel that in order to learn efficiently, variety is needed to keep the student interested. At the beginning of each lesson, clear and achievable learning goals will be set out, so they know what to reach for and what to expect in each lesson. At any point during the lesson, the student may ask me questions about the learning content or if they're confused about their learning goals, so that we can both progress together efficiently and productively. I will also gain an understanding from the pupil about what their preferred learning methods are, so that I can tailor to their individual needs - are they more of a visual learner, for example. Learning will be achieved through a range of ways such as vocabulary and grammar exercises with flashcards and quizzes for reading and writing skills, role-play and dialogue exercises to improve speaking skills, past papers for exam preparation, etc. Other activities may be listening to foreign music and playing language games - all to facilitate and encourage learning. Allof these activities will be centred around the work of the student, i.e. around the A-level syllabus, GCSE practice papers, etc. The progress will be measured through all these activities, where I will keep note of test scores and change the difficulty and content of the lesson, based on the progress they are making and learning goals.

Undergraduate at the University of Cambridge, with lots of tutoring experience
I am currently studying Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge and have been tutoring locally for a couple of years- covering a range of GCSE's and A levels. I like to find ways to explain difficult concepts and then show students that they are able to apply them, increasing their passion for learning and boosting their confidence, which are the two most important parts of education for me.
