I completed a BSc in Politics and Philosophy at the London School of Economics. Tutoring Experience: I've been tutoring GCSE and A levels in Maths and Government and Politics respectively since 2008 one to one. Having worked as a Graduate Achievement Coach at Bethnal Green Academy for two years, I helped students prepare for GCSE maths examinations,Sixth Form students apply to university and coach young people to make informed decisions about their future. In 2014/15 I also tutored two International Relations undergraduate students from Queen Mary University (University of London) My previous tutee from First Tutors took AS Religious Studies as an additional subject outside of her school curriculum. She achieved an A grade having only studied with me for 2 hours a week over 4-5 months. My students have consistently performed in their examinations and benefited overall academically from my interaction with them. Tutoring Approach: I'm also experienced in helping my students develop key study skills and unlock their potential by focusing on also developing their motivation and key skills such as time management and effective planning. I believe that the best way to develop a student's academic skills is to empower them rather then make them dependent on tuition, thus I strive to help them help themselves, by teaching them key skills that will be useful throughout their academic career as well as providing support in the desired subject area.

My greatest passion in life is learning and my second greatest passion is teaching which also involves learning. A little bit about me. I was raised in Turkey, France, Pakistan and the UK. I've experienced great success throughout my life due to the amazingly approachable, friendly and unforgettable teachers that I've studied with and from. This, in fact, is the foundation of my commitment to helping my students. I have a very unique way of teaching and that is ‘the training of the mind to think’. As I specialise in English Literature and language, ‘training the mind to think’ is crucial and allows students to think outside the box, exploring avenues that may have never been explored before. This is seen in my success rates of tutoring throughout the years, in subjects such as English literature and language, Chemistry and Biology. I have improved GCSE students grades by 2-3 grades every year round. Being the first cohort doing the new 9-1 GCSE examinations, I achieved a grade 9 for both English literature and language. This means that I have a first hand experience on what the exams are like, what examiners are looking for, how to handle workload and memorise poems and quotes from books, and how to achieve great results. In order to develop English skills, I frequently encourage asking questions, with this, lessons do not become a one way street and the student is encouraged to probe away in order to reach a conclusion for themselves. I try to teach a student the qualities of, and then to prioritise deduction and reasoning, something I have found is becoming ever more important in current exams. I strive to build confidence in students by securing knowledge and understanding and then frequently applying this to new scenarios, including independent work designed for strong consolidation. This of course includes inspiring an interest in the subject at hand, attempting to help the student recognise how truly fun learning such useful subjects can be, especially in noticing how they relate to daily life.

I am a 21 year old student currently studying for my degree in business management and entrepreneur ship. Having 2 siblings that are at the age where support is needed due to GCSE’s and SATS has made me realised how much I enjoy teaching and support children to do their best in their education. I currently have a level 3 ,4 and 5 in business management at 5 GCSE’s including international GCSE’s too. My mother tongue is English and I am also fluent in Arabic. The way a lesson is being delivered is the most important thing, as it determines whether or not the child has understood. Having a child leave with new knowledge is better than having a child leave with nothing. I also love making lessons fun and interactive so I don’t bore the child. This will excite the child and make them want to do their best.
