Very passionate about all things data science.
I work for an investment bank in a data science based role. I have an MPhil in Machine Learning at The University of Warwick. My job involves using python and R to apply data science techniques to financial problems. I am happy to help with all things data science related. This includes teaching to programme in python.
I’m passionate about working with young people so they fulfil their potential!
Since September 2018, I’ve been working at Ark Swift Primary Academy as a Graduate Co-Teacher where, alongside offering general classroom support, I run my own intervention groups for maths, guided reading and grammar in Year 6. With a group of 9-10 children, I plan, prepare and teach every morning- differentiating the material do that they can reach the expected standard in their SATs. Furthermore, I have 18 months experience as an ABA Tutor - working for the U.K. Young Autism Project. During my time there, I had the opportunity to work with several children who are on the autism spectrum - ranging from as young as 4 to as old as 19. Also, from September 2019 I’ll be studying to gain my QTS in A Level economics.
Graduate from University of East London and accomplished tutor
I am a mum of 3 children and a teacher to 30 pupils. I love my job and I am enthusiastic about learning. I like to help and support children with their needs and take into consideration what type of learner they are. I use a variety of tools to help embed the learning.
I teach Maths and Music (guitar, piano, drums, ukulele and theory/composition)
I’m Andy, a skilled, engaging and experienced teacher of maths and music. Ever since I was young, I was fascinated with both subjects and how they relate to each other. Maths My passion for maths and its applications to real-life scenarios has been with me for as long as I can remember. I truly believe everyone can do it, not just the “gifted” but the secret lies in understanding and recognising the specific problem, and therefore the solution, and this is what I focus on through my teaching. Whether you are studying another subject that requires a few basic maths skills, cramming in some last-minute revision before an exam, or supplementing your curricular learning with extra tuition, you can count on my expertise and willingness to help! Music My earliest memories of music were listening to the radio in the car and training myself to differentiate between different classical composers before they were revealed by the programme host. My passion led me to dig deeper and learn different instruments (the more the better!) from the age of about 5. I started giving music lessons to friends and family around the age of 15. I aim to keep my lessons fun and insightful so you take away something new with each class and look forward to the next one!
Passionate tutor in Mathematics
I am grateful for checking out my profile. Mathematics is one of the subjects I enjoy tutoring. I am committed to helping students whichever way I can. I studied Actuarial Science in my first degree which entails Maths, finance, statistics, insurance and some computer modules. I have experience in formal tutoring for many years years. I tutored some of my classmates and other students. Currently, I am studying a Masters’ degree in Actuarial Science at Heriot-Watt University. Topics such statistics, probability, calculus, algebra etc. are all quite easy for me to teach. I am happy when to help students achieve their goals. Maths appears to be difficult because it takes a lot of time and energy. Many people are not able to keep up the pace with Maths lesson and thereby fall behind. Foundation is the key, without the right one students pursuing more complex concepts are likely to face difficulties at some point. I often encourage my students and assure them that there is still a chance. For my tutoring approach, I take my time to discuss issues with my students concerning subject areas. It will enable me to know the appropriate learning style to pursue. It will also help me know the way they think and learn.
