I have graduated from high school in the UK and am currently studying Medicine at UCL. I am very interested in science subjects, and have taken them in A levels, receiving 3A*s. I would therefore like to share my ways of studying as well as exam techniques. I am a curious and enthusiastic individual who is particularly interested in Chemistry. I have been involved in Chemical Analytical Challenges and Symposiums. At school, I have also given biology presentations, including topics of epilepsy and effects of chocolate on the brain. I enjoy learning about the human system as it allows me to understand fully on how our body responds to different situations. I also had the experience of teaching Mathematics, alongside sciences. I have achieved A* within a year in A level maths, with UMS 581/600. I relish the logical thinking in Maths and have tutored several students, giving them advice on how to approach a question when prompted. From past experiences, I adopted a wide range of teaching styles, ranging from interactive whiteboards during online tutoring, to providing quizzes and exercises during face-to-face tutoring. I believe that this interaction will enhance visual learning and enable students to retain knowledge and be more interested in the subject. I am a native Chinese speaker and have taken Chinese GCSE and AS level. In my free time, I am an avid violinist and was the leader of Symphony Orchestra. I have taken music as one of my GCSEs before and I particularly enjoyed the classical pieces studied during the course. Sayeed is a Physical Natural Sciences undergraduate at the University of Cambridge. Hi, my name is Abdur and I’m currently studying Dentistry at the University of Bristol. I’d describe myself as a kind and friendly person who loves to teach using evidence-based techniques. As a dental student, a lot of my time is spent learning but also teaching others as it reinforces the knowledge I’ve gained from lectures, seminars and clinical sessions. I’d describing my style of teaching as interactive and personal as everyone has their own way of grasping topics. What sets my teaching apart from others is that it integrates core topics and links the common themes which cements the information to a deeper level of understanding. This is something I’ve used in my own studies which has helped me to ranked in the top 10 for the end of Year 1 exams and over achieve over 70% in end of Year 2 exams. I have been tutoring and mentoring students since 2016. What I’ve learnt from this experience is that building confidence in students is one of the key components to boosting grades. I highlight strengths and weaknesses so we can reinforce the areas which require more attention. This is through evidence-based teaching called active recall. The purpose of this method is to stimulate the mind through questioning rather than passive learning. Passive learning is something many students are guilty of which often leads to average grades. Through active learning it highlights areas that requires more attention. Spaced repetition will help to prevent forgetting important information and enables long term storage of knowledge which is crucial for exams!

I’m currently a second year PhD student at Imperial College doing physics. I’m passionate about Maths, physics and coding (especially in Python) and love sharing my experiences and enthusiasm with those I teach. “If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough” has always been the major motivation that drives me to teach and makes me enjoy teaching. When I teach, my strategy involves ensuring students understand basic concepts and techniques, how to link them together to solve more complex problems and helping students build up their abstract thinking progressively. I am an approachable incoming 2nd year medical student at University College London (UCL).
