Qualified Maths Teacher
I am a qualified Secondary Maths Teacher and have been working in schools and as a tutor since 2012. I have worked with students from Key Stages 2 to 5 as well as adult learners. This includes preparing students for SATs, Functional Skills, GCSEs and A Levels exams and working with trainee teachers. I am also an examiner for Pearson and AQA and mark GCSE and A Level maths papers. I use a wide range of resources and manipulatives, to allow students to scaffold their learning. It is important that my students feel at ease and able to ask questions to deepen their understanding. It is great to see how a little patience, encouragement and reassurance can help build students’ confidence and realise their ability to learn. I am happy to help with: - Securing the concepts taught in lessons - Homework - Working through the curriculum at the pace needed, filling in gaps or extending by depending their understanding through problem solving and investigations - Preparation and practice for exams - Revision techniques and organisation of revision timetables I am familiar with recent changes to the curriculum and hope that my own enthusiasm for learning will inspire the students I work with; I believe everyone has the potential to succeed given the chance.
I’m passionate about working with young people so they fulfil their potential!
Since September 2018, I’ve been working at Ark Swift Primary Academy as a Graduate Co-Teacher where, alongside offering general classroom support, I run my own intervention groups for maths, guided reading and grammar in Year 6. With a group of 9-10 children, I plan, prepare and teach every morning- differentiating the material do that they can reach the expected standard in their SATs. Furthermore, I have 18 months experience as an ABA Tutor - working for the U.K. Young Autism Project. During my time there, I had the opportunity to work with several children who are on the autism spectrum - ranging from as young as 4 to as old as 19. Also, from September 2019 I’ll be studying to gain my QTS in A Level economics.
