Qualified Teacher & Nurse - Tutor: Chinese, GCSE, Alevels, Primary (3-11)!

Hello! My name is Meryl! I am a very bubbly and approachable person!☺️ I am fluent in both English and Cantonese; can also speak and understand mandarin but not as fluent in speaking it. I am a qualified nurse who just finished studying postgraduate course for primary education. I have now a qualified teaching degree. I studied psychology, sociology, chinese and english literature for Alevels. I can help children ranging from age 3-11 or GCSE-Alevels in the subjects I have studied. I can also help give university application advice, especially on nursing (help with interviews, personal statement and more!) I have taught international students from china and hongkong during my University life with their English, it was a great opportunity for me to act as their mentor and supporter. I am open to building a good relationship with children and their families and make it easier and fun for them to learn with me. Thank you for reading! If you think I am suitable for you or your child please do not hesitate to contact me for more details! 💓

Enthusiastic tutor and undergraduate at University of Birmingham

I am a current 4th year Medical Student studying at the University of Birmingham. I achieved A*AA in Biology, Chemistry and Maths at A-Level and 12 A*s at GCSE level. I have 5 years of experience in tutoring students, including 11+ exams and GCSE-level Maths and Science. I have seen students through their entire GCSE course, and have consistently helped them to achieve excellent grades. Being a student myself, I understand what is required for exam success; I incorporate exam paper practice and homework into my sessions to help students develop both knowledge and exam technique. I am able to offer regular teaching sessions throughout the year as well as intensive 1-week exam preparation courses leading right up to the exam period, which can provide the final push that students need to reach top grades. I have previously worked at a tuition centre and offer group classes as well private one-to-one sessions. I also provide Medicine university application and personal statement writing advice, as well as Medical School interview preparation.

Dedicated, enthusiastic and experienced Math tutor

Currently, I am a Foundation Pharmacy student at the University of Birmingham (I have to study Foudation because the UK education doesn't accept the high school qualification in my country). In the past, I studied at Hanoi-Amsterdam high school for gifted students, which was one of the best high school in Vietnam. My major at that time was Math so I am very confident to teach all type of Math. I have also studied SAT Math. My Math grade in grade 12 was 9.5/10 and my Math grade has never been below 9/10. I have also been a Math tutor for a tutoring program in my high school so I have experience in teaching Math. I believe that with my experiences, I will be able to help you with Math and I can explain it in the most simple way for you to understand. Don't hesitate to contact me if you are interested. I will do my best to help you get a better score.

Results orientated GCSE Maths & Physics

Becoming exam savvy is the best way to ensure you pass your Maths or Physics GCSE’s with the best possible grades! My approach is all about being laser focussed on the big exam which means plenty of past paper practise and using past questions as a springboard to broader tuition around the topic. We will build together a personal tuition plan centred around the actual structure of your final exam so you’ll become more confident in all areas from time keeping to being ready for all topics, no matter how the questions are thrown at you on the day. You’ll also get to understand model answers and examiners mark schemes so you’ll gain clarity over precisely what is needed to achieve those top marks This results orientated tutoring approach has evolved out of 27 years spent achieving targets for myself and others in a business development role. Over that time I’ve developed the skills needed to motivate students and help get the best from them especially as exam deadlines loom. Whether face to face tutoring in the Birmingham area or tutoring online, at all times I strive to provide a relaxed and supportive environment.

Learning Matters!

I attended King Edward VI Handsworth School for girls, achieving straigh A/A* at GCSE and at AS/A-levels. I graduated from Aston University with a first class honours degree in Pharmacy. During my time at university, I offered tuition whilst working as a healthcare assistant. Following my registration as a Pharmacist, I worked full-time as a comminity pharmacist until I had my twin daughters. Since having the twins, I work part time as a Pharmacist and part time as a tutor. I am passionate about learning!! I aim to boost your child's confidence and to help provide the foundations for their future development. Working at home allows me to provide a relaxed and comfortable learning environment where active participation is strongly encouraged.
