First Class BA Hons (Jazz) Music Degree from Leeds College of Music DBS Certified I enjoy teaching and have lots of experience teaching students privately as well as in groups. I've helped teach at Falmouth Jazz Summer School for the past 2 years as welI as giving workshops in schools across the country with some of my colIeagues. I teach pupils of alI abilities an ages, beginner to advanced I adapt my lessons to suit the student's needs and learning abilities. I play and teach a variety of genres including jazz, pop, classical, funk, rock, however, I specialise in jazz and improvisation. I gig regularly around the UK playing with highly acclaimed groups such as the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and some of the countries finest jazz musicians but also in function bands and other groups covering a multitude of different genres. Popular topics covered in lessons will include technique,improvisation, scales arpeggios, harmony, music theory and sight reading. I have grade 8 in bass guitar and I'm very familiar with the Rockschool syllabus if you wish to take any exams with them. I charge £30 an hour and £15 for half an hour. I’m a violinist, pianist, songwriter and composer. I’ve written an opera and three string quartets along with 5 popular music albums. I’m a two time alumni of the Sound and Music summer school for young composers and studied classical composition at undergraduate level. I recently graduated with a masters from the Leeds College of Music. My previous teachers include Eliza Carthy, Alexis Bennett and Nancy Kerr.
