Currently in my third year studying Philosophy, Politics and Economics at St. Anne’s College at the University of Oxford. I studied Maths, French and History at A-Levels and Physics at AS. Coming from a state comprehensive school, I spent a lot of time independently preparing for the Oxford application process including personal statements, admissions test and interview preparation. I believe this puts me in a great position to support students going through the process. As well as this, I have been tutoring students for over 3 years from a range of abilities and ages. I have tutored both in person and via Skype.

Studied at Ampleforth College, boarding school in North Yorkshire. I spent my 5 years there as a Maths Tutor to my peers and those younger than me, and then proceed to take the role of Deputy head of house in my final year. This experience has made me adept at interacting with and communicating clearly to those whom I teach. I have experience with AQA, Edexcel, iGCSE and OCR examination boards. I am currently coming to the end of a gap year, 5 months of which I spent travelling the U.S west to east coast. In a couple weeks I shall commence at Kings College London to study philosophy. Having only 7 hours of contact time, I want to simultaneously better the learning of children and give the same educational aide I was so lucky to have; whilst keeping myself fed. I am a 2nd year English student at Balliol College, Oxford University, so, like my students, exams and coursework are not a bygone memory for me! I studied a range of subjects for A level (Maths, History, History of Art, Politics and English - with an A in Politics and A* in the rest) so English was not 'the obvious' route, though reading and writing take up most of my time now and I absolutely love it. Whether it's GCSE Maths or writing a university personal statement, I make sure my lessons are meticulously researched to give my students the best and most efficient guidance to succeed how you want to, with no extra waffle on the side. I am highly practised in cutting dull corners when it comes to revision to reach the most efficient ways of excelling in exams. I also specialise in helping students write cogent personal statements for uni (regardless of subject), and help with interview practice and other university application procedures.

Massive history enthusiast who especially enjoys studying military history.
I have been going to military museums since I was very young which constantly fascinated me. I have always studied history in school, however I found the style of teaching in my lessons to be very disengaging, hence my A Level grades. In the past I have studied: the Tudors, Russia from 1853-1945, Germany from 1918-1989, the Cold War, and I interest myself by reading military history from the 18th century to present day. I try to provide friendly lessons which I cater to the student’s needs. I am currently studying Military and International History (BA) at Brunel University London. I am looking to become an officer in the Army after university.

Experienced, friendly tutor and MA in International Political Economy from King`s College. I have hundreds of hours of tutoring experience from GCSE to Undergraduate level. I am a friendly and relaxed tutor who employs a methodical and tactical approach. I believe that my approach enables me to relate to my students and helps them to exceed their expectations when it comes to exams. During university I was the Head Learning Coordinator for the entry to university programme, Springboard. Here I mentored and guided a cohort of 30 pupils through their GCSE exam preparations. With Adult Learners I am happy to work through any topic area covered by my range of experience, and this can be tailored around the required intensity of academic rigour needed for the students personal interests/study. I am experienced working with students on the Autism spectrum and with students who have dyslexia and dyspraxia. My approach to tutoring is adapted to suit the needs and requirements of the individual. I will set my students homework between sessions, setting manageable homework, with adequate time for completion. I often ensure that I have a thorough undertanding of students work load, and will work with them to ensure that their time is being managed effectively. With younger students it is often the case of focusing in on elements of the entrance exams they are weaker with as many students score inconsistently across the four disciplines. Ideally tutoring should form part of a well-rounded curriculum which incorporates many elements such as sports/recreational activities, museum trips, reading around the subject all of which I will actively encourage during the lessons. I often like to give an indication of how long students would need tuition for. This is to ensure that dependancy on the tutor is discouraged and students are empowered to eventually take charge of their own learning. Tutoring sessions are varied and include learning, note taking, revision, discussion, exam technique and test questions. These are tailored to the individual student. I often get my older students to write responses and then show them ways in which the question could be answered or interpreted differently. This allows for increased dexterity therefore building confidence both for class work and examinations. With younger students lots of practice tests and mock questions form the main basis of enhancing their performance. Cambridge offer holder, I always push my students to reach the full height of their potential and it is this continual focus on improving which leads to my students outperforming their expectations and achieving consistently high top results. I have yet to find a particular style, as I have not had much experience yet. But, I put emphasis on the fact that the student be able to recite and learn the material of their own accord with me as their guide rather than as their instructor or drill sergeant.
