I chose my GCSE options in year 8 and started them in year 9. It was then I felt like I had to decide what career I want to go in. I knew I enjoyed teaching as I've done a lot mentoring; I also knew that Religious Studies was one of my most favourite subjects. Really, I loved (still do) cooking the most so a career in catering was also something I wanted but then I decided that from my experience it's not the most stable career and I am an academic. My parents suggested I go into law so I focussed on that. I got 18 A* - Cs for GCSE. I got a scholarship into Oxford for a pre-degree law course which I did along side my A-levels. For AS I did German, Philosophy and Ethics, History and English language and literature. The latter 2 subjects I did not do that well in or enjoy as much so I dropped them in A2 and picked up a full A-level in IT. (I was also doing an EPQ but I had a lot of things going on in my personal life so I dropped that because I had a lot of commitments with my family and I was still going to Oxford too). I got a reduced offer to do law at Oxford but I decided I didn't want to do that anymore nor be in that environment again. I chose to do philosophy and R.S. and that's what I am doing now. I took a gap year though after my A-levels and I worked in a school as pupil assistant and mentor. I am now a manager at a tutoring firm. (And I've been tutoring since I was 15). Sorry for the essay!

For the past 2 years I have been doing home tutoring students with different ages and still love to continue my hobby as I believe every child should expand their abilities and creative knowledge. During my college years I have been training for St Barbados which is an organization supporting children who needs help in understanding subjects in school or learning English from a foreign country. Tasks I have been managing to do is guiding children through reading to help them understand English language and Supporting children in problems such as speech or confidence. I love to make my lessons as knowledgeable and fun so that every effort has a reward.

I have completed my degree in mathematics and education and have been teaching maths and English for a couple of years. I am an aspiring Secondary school maths teacher and am just about to undergo my training in the educational field. I am very eager to make learning an enjoyable experience with good results. Please feel free to get in touch if you feel your child could do with some extra help to keep on top of their school work over the summer period and during the term time. I have been teaching students between the ages of 5-18 years for the past 3-4 years as a tutor. I have mentored in a couple of secondary schools in south London and in Hastings for 2 years whilst studying at university. This has enabled me to understand how different students approach mathematics and English and adapt my teaching methods to suit each individual. I understand that often students are not keen to engage in a classroom setting and find it more comfortable to learn with less people around them and I am willing to adhere to students' needs and wants. I have experience with working with students who struggle to focus in mainstream environments (especially with students who suffer from ADHD and Autism). My aims for teaching mathematics is to make it less intimidating for students and for teaching English, to make it less of a chore to write essays and more of a way to express ideas and emotion; thus achieving good results.
