Qualified primary school teacher with experience in the private sector.
I am a qualified primary school teacher with experience in the private sector. I have worked at a range of schools most recently in London but also in Cumbria, and have taught children ranging from 5 to 11 years. After successfully providing tuition to pupils in East London and having recently moved to Heanor, Derbyshire, I am looking to continue this service over a wide range of primary subjects. If your child is working towards their SATs, requires extra support or loves to learn more outside their time at school, I can supply an excellent standard of tuition for a reasonable fee. All DBS checks are up to date and my current rate is £25 per hour including resources. If interested, you can contact me by phone or by email and I will get back to you as soon as possible. I teach science and maths in a creative, simple and enjoyable way :D
My name is Katie and I graduated from the University of Nottingham with a first-class degree in Neuroscience, also coming the top of my year. I have now been tutoring for 2 years and I am loving it. Since school, I have always loved maths and science, which led me to choose maths, physics and chemistry alongside philosophy and ethics for A-Level. This, coupled with my interest in people and how they work, meant Neuroscience was the perfect degree for me. A tutor needs more than to be good at and enjoy the subjects they teach; I believe that the key to tutoring is being able to explain the content in a creative, simple and accessible way. I am very easy going and light-hearted, in an effort for students to really enjoy the sessions and to not see me like their teachers, but as someone who they can ask any question - however silly they think it is. From experience, I know that many students can put in the hours and know a lot of the content and yet not see this translate into their grade. In my sessions, I aim to cover the course content to identify weaknesses, address them and then quickly move onto exam-style questions, dealing with gaps in knowledge as they arise, so the student becomes used to the type of questions they could get well before any exam. I also believe that encouragement is so important and I always aim to create an encouraging and ‘just try-again’ environment, celebrating even small victories.

Passionate and enthusiastic Maths tutor and OU student
I am an enthusiastic and experienced maths tutor, I like to be as hands on as possible as maths is a subject you learn by doing. All of my sessions are planned to the individual as no 2 learners will look at a problem the same.
