Oxford grad student and highly resourceful tutor with 12 years of experience.
I’m a sought-after tutor with twelve years of teaching and tutoring experience in Canada, the United Kingdom, Jamaica, Czech Republic, Bahrain, and Ghana. I completed my IBDP certification in Greece and the United States, and I've participated in workshops in Canada, Bahrain, and Qatar; I've received pedagogical training and professional development from many corners of the world. My global-minded philosophy is embedded in my teaching practices. I taught at a highly reputable private school in Bahrain for six years, and for four of those years I was an IBDP Literature/IBDP Language and Literature teacher whose students not only achieved some of the best results in the school, but achieved results that often exceeded IB world averages. With my experience as an IB teacher, tutor, and examiner, I’m highly attuned to the requirements and expectations of the IB programme; I have a well-rounded understanding from the vantage points of teacher and assessor. I’m in possession of excellent IB materials, resources, and exemplars. Many students have earned 6s and 7s under my tutelage. I can transfer this knowledge and expertise to A-level and GCSE tutoring as well. I’m familiar with 11+ entrance exams and have extensive experience preparing students of all ages for different standardised tests. I instil lifelong study skills in my students. As a certified SAT Associate Supervisor who has administered and invigilated over ten sessions, I have expert knowledge on SAT preparedness, content, time management, and essay writing. I've helped numerous students with their UCAS applications, university interview preparation, and personal statements. For those who are English language learners, I have considerable experience teaching English as a second/foreign language. I’ve prepared students for the IELTS and I’ve helped numerous students in Canada and Czech Republic (of varying levels of English proficiency) with conversational English, grammar instruction, and speaking/listening/writing/reading activities. I’m committed to my pupils’ academic excellence by encouraging their intellectual curiosity. My teaching style fosters independent inquiry, and I pride myself on my passionate, engaging, student-led lessons that empower pupils to take ownership of their learning. I encourage my students to analyse and think critically, and my ultimate goal is to provide students with the analytical tools to continue their studies independently with confidence and conviction.View Profile

Passionate English and ESL Tutor
Hello! My name is Mehak. I studied Criminology and Psychology at university and now work as an English tutor and ESL teacher. I have always had a passion for English Language and Literature, and always got the highest marks in school. Creative writing is one of my favourite things to do and I love reading too. I can be a bit of a stickler for correct grammar and punctuation, which makes this job perfect for me. I have been a volunteer and private tutor of English, both academic and general, for over 6 months now. I can honestly say that there is nothing else I would rather do than teach others. Positivity is the key to succeeding and that is the motto I go by. I think learning is the best and we can have so much fun learning together! Don't be nervous, I am here to help. It's okay if you make mistakes because that is how we learn. Confidence is just as important as positivity, because you need to feel like you are capable of doing well. I constantly offer encouragement for all of my students. Even when they are really struggling. You are doing this for yourself, not me, not your parents, not your teachers. Just keep calm and keep smiling! You can do this and I can't wait for us to get started! https://www.tutorfair.com/blog/volunteer-tutoring-mehaks-storyView Profile

Experienced UCAS advisor and A Level tutor
A dedicated, experienced and creative tutor. I'm currently an HR prifessional with a background in mainstream education and social enterprises. I completed a BSc in Politics and Philosophy at the London School of Economics. Tutoring Experience: I've been tutoring GCSE and A levels in Maths and Government and Politics respectively since 2008 one to one. Having worked as a Graduate Achievement Coach at Bethnal Green Academy for two years, I helped students prepare for GCSE maths examinations,Sixth Form students apply to university and coach young people to make informed decisions about their future. In 2014/15 I also tutored two International Relations undergraduate students from Queen Mary University (University of London) My previous tutee from First Tutors took AS Religious Studies as an additional subject outside of her school curriculum. She achieved an A grade having only studied with me for 2 hours a week over 4-5 months. My students have consistently performed in their examinations and benefited overall academically from my interaction with them. Tutoring Approach: I'm also experienced in helping my students develop key study skills and unlock their potential by focusing on also developing their motivation and key skills such as time management and effective planning. I believe that the best way to develop a student's academic skills is to empower them rather then make them dependent on tuition, thus I strive to help them help themselves, by teaching them key skills that will be useful throughout their academic career as well as providing support in the desired subject area.View Profile
