Teaching has always been my greatest passion. I have done so for 25 years.

I have dedicated my teaching career to ensuring that all students achieve and progress while gaining a love or at very least seeing the benefits of acquiring new knowledge. Coaching, delivery of training as well as the recognition that the student is at the centre of everything that we do while maintaining a robust self-evaluation of teaching and learning all played a significant part in ensuring that the progress of all students have been consistently outstanding over the years. As a teacher of English Language and English Literature, I devise and deliver lessons for national qualifications, preparing students and contributing significantly to enabling continually outstanding teaching and learning practice. In the last 3 years, I have consistently attained an average 94% grades 9- 4 for students. Throughout my teaching career, I have taught classes across a wide ability range and have been formally commended for the fact that my lessons are well-planned and appropriate to individual learning styles of each group. I adapt a “person-centred” approach to teaching, facilitating rages of learning styles in a calm working environment. As an experienced teacher, tutor and formerly a Deputy Curriculum Leader of English, my strengths and experience include: • Successfully mentored and coached NQTs/ Teach First teachers/ Graduate Teacher Trainees/ Overseas Trained Teachers. This involved creating a sense of trust to ensure that a personalised action plan for improvement is accurate and fit for purpose. It is also important to ensure that I was seen as approachable and willing to model good teaching and learning strategies in a variety of contexts. • Keeping abreast of the latest developments in Education to inform planning and decision making. This is particularly relevant to the current situation of change regarding “life after levels” and GCSE reforms to mention a few. Bearing this in mind, I have ensured that I can be resilient in being able to adapt and respond positively to change while ensuring that my students’ learning is not negatively influenced. • Effective use of Data analysis/ Interventions (marginal gains) for maximum impact. This involved providing training for all how to use data effectively to ensure good progress and attainment within my department. • Supported other KS3 leaders within and outside, modelled the design of an effective Department Handbook, Current Standards analysis and reports on Exams Analysis. • Master Classes and in service training for targeted groups of students and staff in a range of areas. • Modelled good practice (giving lesson feedback under the new framework/ effective coaching/ effective questioning/ Team Teaching). • Being accountable and holding staff in the department to account for under-achievement of students. • Monitor and support the overall progress and development of students within the area of responsibility. • Monitor student attendance together with their progress and performance in relation to targets set for each individual ensuring that follow-up procedures are adhered to and that appropriate action is taken where necessary.
