= 2 multiplied by itself SEVEN times, so it is 2 to the power 7.

so that leaves you with √2^7

√ = anything to the power 0.5

so that leaves you with (2^7)^0.5

rule of powers involving brackets mean you multiply the power inside the bracket by the power outside the bracket so you get 2^(7x0.5) = 2^3.5

p is to two sig. fig. so:
27.5 < p < 28.5

you get the LARGEST value for c by dividing the LARGEST value for d by the SMALLEST value for p so:
c < 187.5/27.5 = 6.818 km per litre 

you get the SMALLEST value for c by dividing the SMALLEST value for d by the LARGEST value for p so:
c > 186.5/28.5 = 6.544 km per litre
