If you do a finance BSc, aim for a top university, as this may help in securing a banking internship or full time job. In contrast to BSc's, MBAs typically have a few years of experience. They usually come from diverse backgrounds including finance and engineering, and it is important to note that a good number of MBAs do the degree to switch careers; however I believe that you can definitely do an MBA from a non-business background.

I am trying to get into investment banking/brokering after A-levels. I am planning to do a finance Bsc will I still be able to do a MBA afterwards even though I haven't taken business before?

There are so many different types of engineering, so it's important to know which type appeals to you the most as a first step! 

Depending on which type of engineering you decide on, there are a few options, however, names such as Cambridge, Imperial and UCL are very reputable across the board. The Times League table can also be a helpful guide to support your view of who is doing well. 

If you are interested in gaining work experience in between your second and third year, some courses offer the option to work, and are called sandwich degrees. This can be a great way to earn money as a student! Schools such as Loughborough University, Imperial and Manchester have great relationships with different companies, who hire students every year. The sandwich option is definitely a great way to differentiate you as candidate once you graduate, so it might help to factor this into your search.

Hi Fantage, the motives for M&A in the 80s were diverse, and one major reason was around management ego. Also, certain companies found it hard to grow organically (by themselves), so they acquired others to create this illusion of growth. 

M&A comes with the challenge with integrating the two companies, and could results in lots of lay-offs due to overlapping responsibilities. This may mean you lose some good people, ultimately leading to lower productivity.

Simply state that you are thankful for the offer and appreciate the opportunity to have interviewed with the firm, however, you have received another offer which you have decided to pursue after careful consideration.

This way, you don’t burn any bridges, and if they really like you they may ask why, and then you can share that it is because of the salary. You might be surprised, they may then try to counter or beat the 30 lac offer!
