Experienced English teacher with passion and personality.
Experienced GCSE teacher I’ve been teaching English KS3 and KS4, including GCSE, for almost 20 years and have twice been rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. My rapport with my students is key to their success as I believe that the best learning takes place when young people feel safe to explore and question. A love of language and ideas is what originally inspired me towards education but a love of working with young people is what kept me in this sector. I have taught both AQA and WJEC for a number of years and have had success in teaching both. My students connect with my personality and my love of my subject. Whether your child needs support with something specific such as grammar and punctuation or unseen poetry, or is generally under performing in the subject, I can guide them and uncover their potential in English.

Qualified secondary school teacher with 20 years experience teaching in the UK and Australia. Specialist subjects are Geography and Physical Education, with experience teaching History, ICT, Maths, English and Religious Education. DBS certified (enhanced).
Creative tutor of maths and sciences.
I qualified as a teacher from University of London in 1984. Since then I have taught in a wide variety of institutions...secondary schools, special schools, pupil referral units and residential schools. I have a PhD in biochemistry so I have to admit that biology is my first love and chemistry / physics come a close joint second. However, I have had many successes guiding students through their struggles with GCSE maths. I have taught across all the main exam boards...OCR, AQA, Edexcel, WJEC. My approach tends to be playful, direct and geared towards getting you through your exams. I like to coach students to develop greater self-sufficiency in their approach to studying. I tend to start where the student is and shape my approach to suit their needs rather than offering a single style of delivery. In other words, I adapt to you, rather than you having to adapt to me. I also have a broad background in stress management, NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming) and cognitive behavioural therapy so I have a whole arsenal of tips and tricks to manage any pre-exam jitters and help improve general confidence and self-esteem. At the very least, get in touch and let's see how I can help you.
